Q: Is FOF&P a La Cresta only organization?
A: No. Our Board Members and committees are made up of individuals
from La Cresta, Tenaja, El Cariso Village, Lakeland Village and Rancho
Capistrano. We are in formal discussions with several other associations in
the surrounding area (from Corona to Temecula).

Q: Does FOF&P also work to protect the private
property owner’s rights as-well-as National Forest land?
A: Yes. The mission of Friends of the Forest (Trabuco District) and
The Santa Rosa Plateau is to monitor, protect, and preserve the
environmental integrity of the Trabuco District of the Cleveland National
Forest and the Santa Rosa Plateau. Our organization welcomes the
participation and support of groups and individuals who believe in the
importance of carefully managing and maintaining our remaining open spaces
while preserving individual property rights. One does not mutually exclude
the other.

Q: FOF&P is fighting the proposed Forest Route for
Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District's (EVMWD) high voltage transmission
line. Are you working to protect private property too?
A: Yes! Both are abhorrent and are being fought with equal vigor. We
believe that there is no need for a power line, period.

Q: Won’t the Forest route keep the transmission line
away from private property?
A: No. All of our local politicians have stated that they will not
support a transmission line on private property. Some have been led to
believe that a Forest Route will be tucked far away from private property
and homes, unseen by all. The truth is the transmission line will be put as
close as possible to property lines and in some cases will cut across
privately held land. It will create an eye sore; it will create noise; it
will, most likely, lower property value; it may cause health related issues
to those living close to the lines; and it will definitely add to the fire
danger in the area.

Q: So why the Forest Route?
A: Some politicians feel that because the impacted area (from the
Santa Rosa Plateau to Corona) is unincorporated there will be no organized
public fight to stop it. They are wrong. There are multiple homeowner
associations and many individuals that are fighting the forest route.

Q: If the licensing agency, Federal Energy Regulatory
Commission (FERC) denies EVMWD's application for transmission lines, will we
no longer need to be concerned with a power line in the forest?
A: The Energy Commission passed a bill stating that the
National Forests in the Western U.S. should be used for transmission lines.

Q: Are we the only group that will oppose transmission
lines in the forest.
A: No. The Sierra Club and other environmental organizations have now
joined our battle and are taking an active part in opposing a transmission
line in the National Forest . All are opposed to a transmission line
anywhere in Riverside County.

Q: Has Riverside County taken a position on the
transmissionlines ?
A: Yes. FOF&P played a key role in formulating a resolution by the
Board of Supervisors opposing the transmission lines anywhere in the county.
